Joseph Draps founded Godiva in 1926 in Belgium. The brand grew year after year in Europe mainly until Campbell Soup Company (USA) acquired it in 1972. Campbell Soup Company retained its ownership of the Godiva brand until 2007. Yildiz Holding, owner of Ulker Group, acquired the brand in December of 2007 for USD 850 million. Currently, Godiva operates more than 450 stores worldwide.
