HMM Co. Ltd is the world’s 8th largest shipping company in terms of vessel capacity, formerly known as Hyundai Merchant Marine. The company has acquired the largest portion of South Korea’s exports after Hanjin Shipping declared bankrupcy in 2017. It operates in three business segments such as container segment, bulk segment, and terminal segment operation. Also, it has built the world’s two largest container ships in terms of TEU capacity in Algeciras, and Copen Hagen with maximum TEU capacity of 23,964 and 23, 820 TEUS, respectively. Along with the other shipping companies, HMM is a member of THE Alliance where Hapag Lloyd, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation, and Ocean Network Express are affiliated. THE Alliance provides 34 services directly at 81 different ports per month.
